Wood Tech Connect 2026
From - Amy K Snell, WCMA Executive Director

As we close out another productive year at the Wood Component Manufacturers Association, we’re taking a moment to reflect on the milestones, challenges, and achievements that shaped our industry and our community. This past year underscored the strength, resilience, and craftsmanship that define our members—companies and individuals whose dedication continues to elevate wood manufacturing across North America. From valuable networking opportunities to engaging industry events and insightful plant tours, it’s been an exciting and productive year for the WCMA community.

A Year of Networking and Knowledge Sharing
In 2025, WCMA members had the opportunity to connect and learn from each other in a variety of settings. After much feedback, we moved our flagship plant tour event to the spring, and we rebranded to better reflect the purpose and goals to WoodTech Connect. We were fortunate to tour 9 manufacturing facilities in the Williamsport, Pennsylvania area, and we received very positive feedback after the event.
In the fall of 2025, we held an Autumn Spotlight Plant Tour in Munising, MI of Timber Products, and were fortunate to see their brand-new hardwood component facility – Munising Components. This event was sponsored by Eagle Machinery, and attendees were impressed by the highly automated facility.

Looking Ahead:  WoodTech Connect 2026 / WCMA Annual Conference & Plant Tour Event
This year, we’re excited to announce that we’ll be touring manufacturing facilities in the Green Bay, Wisconsin area. Numerous outstanding facilities in the area will be open for tours, and we look forward to seeing the progress made since our last visit in 2018. Please visit our website at www.wcma.com for the latest details.

Additionally, we’ll be exhibiting at IWF in the fall and distributing the Wood Components Buyer’s Guide at our booth. IWF is a great opportunity for us to connect with current and potential members, and we look forward to seeing you there.

Promoting the Real American Hardwood Coalition (RAHC)
As a founding contributor to the Real American Hardwood Coalition (RAHC), WCMA is deeply committed to promoting American hardwoods and supporting our domestic hardwood manufacturers. The RAHC’s mission is simple but powerful: “With widespread support, the Real American Hardwood Coalition (RAHC) unites the collective efforts and resources of the industry to advance American hardwoods as the Naturally Authentic™ choice.”

Thanks to WCMA’s financial backing, our members are encouraged to use the RAHC logo on qualifying products, helping to build consumer recognition of this premium brand. This partnership is an exciting opportunity for our members to differentiate their products and contribute to the growing recognition of American hardwoods as the sustainable, high-quality choice for consumers.

Why Join WCMA? The Benefits of Membership

  • Unique Industry Events: Our events, including plant tours and conferences, offer members a chance to learn how others in the industry are tackling challenges and implementing successful strategies. It’s a great way to stay informed and engaged in the latest industry developments.
  • National and International Promotion: WCMA also helps promote its members at trade shows and through the Wood Component Buyer’s Guide, which features member capabilities and contact information. These efforts generate valuable sales leads and raise the profile of WCMA members across the industry.

WCMA Membership
“Trade associations provide the sort of insight and perspective that allow me to re-think what we do at Lewis Lumber Products. The tours offer access to new processes and ways of thinking that I otherwise may not have encountered being relegated to the parochial lens of our own operation. In addition, it is always beneficial to network with other leaders in the wood products industry to gain a better understanding of the market at large and discuss solutions to the issues we have in common."

~Christian Atherholt, Lewis Lumber Products
In today’s fast-paced manufacturing landscape, reliability isn’t just a buzzword—it’s a business imperative. For companies in the wood component industry, aligning with a trusted association like the Wood Component Manufacturers Association (WCMA) is a powerful way to reinforce that reliability to customers, partners, and peers.

A Legacy of Standards and Stability
Founded in 1929 as the Hardwood Dimension Manufacturers Association (HDMA), WCMA has stood as a pillar of consistency in an evolving industry. From its earliest days, the association has championed commercial standards and specifications that promote quality, transparency, and trust. Today, WCMA continues to uphold the “Rules & Specifications for Dimension & Woodwork,” ensuring that members operate with integrity and precision.

Reliability in Relationships
WCMA’s signature plant tour events are more than just facility visits—they’re immersive networking experiences that foster meaningful connections between manufacturers and suppliers. These events are designed to spark collaboration, share best practices, and build long-term partnerships rooted in mutual reliability.

Visibility You Can Count On
Membership in WCMA means your company is represented at key industry trade shows and conferences. Our team actively promotes member companies and their products, ensuring your brand is visible in the right places, to the right people. When you’re part of WCMA, you’re part of a collective voice that speaks with authority and consistency.

Renewing Trust, Year After Year
Whether you’re a long-time member or considering joining for the first time, WCMA offers a dependable platform for growth, connection, and credibility. In a world where uncertainty can disrupt even the best-laid plans, WCMA remains a reliable partner—committed to your success and the strength of the industry.

WCMA was a financial supporter
for this study.
In 2019, member associations of the Hardwood Federation came together to fund and released the first national survey of the economic impact of the U.S. Hardwood Industry. Based on 2016–2017 data, the most recent available at the time, the report showed the significant impact generated by the domestic manufacture of hardwood products.

Thanks to significant financial support from the U.S. Endowment for Forests and Families, as well as generous contributions from 10 Federation members, these reports have now been updated using 2022 federal economic census data; again the most recently available data.

As in 2019, the data showed significant economic impact of the industry on the national as a whole as well as in individual states. (2022 Report) To reflect the realities of our current time, this work was supplemented by a look at the impacts of these challenges between 2022 and 2025. The Supplemental Report may be viewed here. SP Global conducted the analysis.
